The best beer gardens in London

LONDON UNDERCOVER

The pub beer garden seems like a distant memory, the winter weather puts pay to that around October time usually – but you’ve made it through! Now, it’s the Easter bank holiday. The prospect of warmer weather, sunny afternoons and fewer layers to put on seems tantalisingly close. We’ve had the odd glimpse over the past few weeks to tease us, now it’s time for us to truly look ahead to spring and summer.

Whilst it doesn’t have the year round climate for it, London has some of the best options in the world for al fresco drinking; punching well above its weight in terms of rooftop bars, beer gardens and booze with a riverside view. This month as part of our London Undercover series, we turn to an English institution – the pub beer garden.

Of course, the idea that we should be abandoning our jackets and ordering summer ciders this weekend is a little premature. The UK climate is notoriously untrustworthy, but it is coming; landlords will be sweeping up decking, cutting the grass and fixing up their patio heaters in preparation. So, with the help of our city beer garden breakdown you’ll be ready when the time comes. We scoured North, South, East and West and found the best places to kick back and escape the chaos of central London.
